Grunt / Nombeko Colt from Inglis Premier
A stand out from the early inspections, this Grunt gelding was purchased from Yulong. Strong, athletic and a horse that caught our eye straight away he may well be running in the Sires Produce as a 2 year old!
"Frogs is going very, very well here, he strides out strongly" said the commentator as our promising 2Y0 recorded a smart jump-out victory at Pakenham in early May.
An exciting prospect with a memorable name, Frogs has the pedigree and conformation to do his owners well.
He is a son of the up-and-coming Yulong stallion Grunt who showed so much natural talent winning five of his 12 starts including the Gr.1 Australian Guineas and the Gr.1 Makybe Diva Stakes.
And he has taken his class from the racetrack to the breeding shed. With his oldest progeny only four, Grunt has been doing a great job with the Gr.1 galloper Veight a member of his first crop as is the dual Listed winner Miraval Rose whilst the 3Y0 Pocketing is showing excellent potential winning the Gr.2 Tulloch Stakes in April.
Frogs is out of the imported mare Nombeko, a half-sister to two stakes performers by the high class stallion Shamardal whose daughters are really making their mark, producing 131 stakes winners... 18 Gr.1 winners including the star sprinter Imperatriz and this year's Gr.1 Blue Diamond winner Devil Night.
Frogs hails from a high class international family, able to claim amongst his relations the big race winners Croco Rouge, Taipan, Ali-Royal, Sleepytime, Panthalassa and It's Somewhat as well as the successful stallion Hussonet.
